Questions About Bruce Lipton Video

Dear Friends,

When I wrote the post about the Bruce Lipton video I included an invitation to contact me  with questions about the relevance of talking about Bruce Lipton’s work on the Mindshifter blog.  The reactions I have received from several people indicate that they love Bruce Lipton and his work, but don’t really see the relevance to the work we do in the Mindshifters Group.  The short answer to the relevance of this post is related to the section of Bruce Lipton’s video in which he discusses our brain wave functioning from birth to age six.  Bruce states that we are literally like biological recording devices, and that from that time forward we are replaying what we watched,  heard, said, felt, interpreted, and concluded from the events in those first six years.

This is a wonderful survival level adaption and has served us well at a physical level for many thousands of years.  Imagine how  slow and awkward your daily life would be if you had to re-learn how to drive a car every time you sat behind the wheel.  Or imagine our difficulty communicating if we had to consciously think  through every  facial expression or non-verbal cue from the person we were trying to talk to as though it were the first time we ever attempted to communicate.  So clearly, the ability to record, integrate and replay information from experiences earlier in our lives is a key to our success.  The difficulty comes in when what we recorded, “experienced”, and integrated results in “stuck” patterns, painful emotions, miscommunications,  and/or abusive patterns in relationships.

The work we do in Mindshifters Groups is specifically designed to help each of us go into that part of our mind’s and body’s energy system where the unproductive material or negative interpretation is stored, and literally remove, cancel, and dismantle it – then replace it with a more Loving and productive set of energies.  This  is done through the use of a variety of tools that are made available for FREE on Dr. Ryce’s website www.whyagain.org.  The core tool in this work is titled, The Reality Management Worksheet and it is available for download as a PDF as well as numerous audio files of an internet show where Dr. Ryce steps people through the use of that tool.

This tool is based on knowledge that is thousands of years old, but which is getting validated by neuroscience in recent years.  The prevailing thought in psychology and  psychiatry for many years was that once a negative experience or trauma was “written” into the brain, it was there to stay.  As recently as 2004 there were specific experiments which demonstrated that these “brain cells” or “neuro-pathways” can literally be re-written through a specific series of steps.  The steps are more than just the traditional “talk therapy” experience and you can discover more about this process through the Coherence Therapy website, or by researching the term, “memory reconsolidation”.

It has been  my experience that what they are just now validating with scientific studies has been working effectively for people for decades, when they apply tools like the Reality Management Worksheet, and/or they stumble across the proper series of steps in their work with an experientially-based therapist or technique.  In fact the book by Bruce Ecker and Laurel Hulley – Depth Oriented Brief Therapy – is a summary of their observations  of this process.  They describe the pattern that is needed, and how to help usher people into that experience of “re-writing” unproductive “knowings”.  It is these unproductive personally held “knowings”, (often unconscious and emotionally based), which make it necessary for people to create the very problems, patterns, and symptoms that bring them into therapy.  Their more recent book with Robin Ticic – Unlocking The Emotional Brain – further develops this work and integrates the more recent neuroscience research.

So, I hope this clarifies why I included a post about Bruce Lipton’s work and a link to his videos.  Nothing about watching Bruce  Lipton’s video will change a  negative pattern in your life.  However, if  you are willing to question some of the beliefs that you have been trained to accept as truth, you may then free yourself to actually pick up some of the tools that are offered to remove from your unconscious “brain cells” or “neuro-pathways” the negative energies, and conclusions which are causing your pain.  I have observed that this has allowed me to experience my life as more Loving, Happy, and Productive than I ever imagined was possible.  I think it may just work that way for you as well.

Mindshifters Group and Bruce Lipton

Last night in the Mindshifters Group at the Unity Spiritual Center of Woodstock, IL, we watched the first half of the lecture by Dr. Michael Ryce titled Getting The Stress You Need.  In the discussion after the video it became clear that there is resistance to some of the new concepts that were being introduced and discussed in the video.  The topic of dogma came up and we explored the definition of dogma as “an unquestioned belief”.  We then tried to state clearly that what we are discussing in the support group is not open for debate, but it is always open for observation.  As we work in this group, we don’t want anyone to believe anything we say, or present.  We truly want people to question these things for themselves and observe what happens in their lives when they apply the practical tools which are presented to improve their lives.

One of the references from the discussion last night was to Bruce Lipton and his groundbreaking work to dispel the strongly held dogma in science which is called the primacy of DNA.  This unquestioned belief has led to the conclusion that we are the victims of our biology and specifically our DNA.  Bruce has clearly demonstrated that this theory was never proven and in fact is clearly wrong.  The truth is more in line with a statement that “We are the architects of our DNA”.  If it is true that we are not the victims of fate, or what other people say or do, or the events in our lives,  this would be a very important thing to know, and to begin to teach ourselves and our children as soon as possible.

I am including two links in this  post to videos of Bruce Lipton talking about this very topic.  The first is 34 minutes in length and was sponsored by a group which I do not endorse.  (The reason I don’t endorse this group is that they market their work so heavily and keep presenting opportunities for you to buy their videos and website access.)  So instead, I refer people to the website run by the creator of EFT – Gary Craig – at www.emofree.com.  I do this because  of the quality and integrity of Gary’s work, and the volume of material he makes available to people for FREE.

The reason for including this link is that, in my opinion, this is well edited to present one of the most concise and understandable presentations of Bruce Lipton’s work, and how it is relevant to our everyday lives.

The second link is to a video which is 46 minutes long and is not edited, and so it is not as concise or quite as easy to understand.

I welcome any feedback on these two videos and any questions about why I feel this is relevant to the work we do in Mindshifters groups and the worksheet process, and other tools presented by Dr. Michael Ryce.
